Cangas de Onís is located in the Principality of Asturias, at the east of the community, and it's in the National Park of the Picos de Europa.
Avilés was the capital of the Asturias Kingdom until the year 774 aC. The motto of the city is in the coat of arms: "Minima Urbium Máxima Sedium".
